The Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza poker tournament series in Las Vegas begins its first round of 2010 this week.  The Venetian, whose large and luxurious poker room has been a favorite of poker players since its opening in 2006, has been organizing and running the Deep Stack Extravaganza poker tournament series since 2007.  Each year has shown three to four installments of this very popular poker tournament series, and participation in these events continues to steadily increase, according to Las Vegas Poker Source (www.lasvegaspokersource.com).

Poker players can choose from No Limit Hold Em, Omaha Hi/Lo, Pot Limit Omaha and H.O.R.S.E. poker tournaments, with buy-ins beginning at $340 and extending up to the $5,000 main event.   Poker players can qualify for these tournaments by playing single table satellites each day in the Venetian Poker Room from 8am-2am, or they may buy in to the events directly.  Events begin at noon each day and commence on January 29th.  The Deep Stack Extravaganza poker tournament series will conclude on February 24th, with the final table of the main event.  This final table plus various action from the first four days of the NAPT main event will be televised on a network yet to be announced.

This year’s five day main event is sponsored by Poker Stars, as part of the North American Poker Tour (NAPT).  The Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will be the first stop for the NAPT, and it will in turn travel across the United States to live venues.  Locations and dates will be announced as the tour develops.  This main event is the biggest change to the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza schedule, as it has formerly been a $2500 three day event.   Players will begin the main event with a 30,000 starting chip stack and 60 minute blind levels on Day 1.  Day 2-5 will be played with 75 minute blind levels.

Poker players may qualify for the main event via satellite online at PokerStars.com.  Live satellites to the main event will be available as well on February 19th in the Venetian Poker Room.  At noon and 4pm, poker players may participate in a $220 buy-in with $200 re-buys “Super Satellite” into the main event.  At 8pm, there will be another “Super Satellite” for $540 (no re-buys).
The Venetian will once again award “Best Overall Player” awards, a prize pool which is drawn from withholding ½ percent from the prize pool of each Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza event.  The best four players of the series are named at the end and win 40, 30, 20 and 10 percent of the prize pool, respectively.

The Venetian offers poker room rates for players during the Deep Stack Extravaganza.  Poker players will receive $119 for weekdays and $159 for weekends, provided that they play in a Deep Stack event daily, or accrue six hours of live action cash game play.  They will also continue to run their 7pm daily poker tournament, with players receiving 7500 starting chips and 20 minute blind levels for a $120 buy-in.  The tournament is referred to as the “second chance tournament” during the series and will be occurring daily during the series, with the exception of Super Satellite Day (Feb 19th).
